Cantor Baruch Shifman is a sixth-generation cantor and a graduate of the Zalman Rivlin Cantorial Academy of Jerusalem. He was Cantor of Gova Synagogue in Natanya, Israel, before serving as chief cantor of Waverly Hebrew Congregation of Johannesburg, South Africa for 15 years. For the past 18 years, Cantor Shifman has been Cantor of Agudas Achim synagogue in Columbus, OH. His deep knowledge of the Talmud and related Jewish literature shines in his unique interpretations of Shabbat and Holiday services. Recognized by his peers as a true master Cantor, Cantor Shifman is a composer of many liturgical and Chassidic musical pieces. |

Cantor Yehuda Shifman is a fourth-generation Israeli. He became Chief Cantor at age 21 of the Central Synagogue of Sydney, Australia, the largest synagogue in the southern hemisphere. For the following seven years, he was Chief Cantor of Greenside Synagogue in Johannesburg, South Africa. After serving as cantor of B’nai Jeshurun Congregation in the early 1980s, he accepted the position of Cantor of Temple Emanu-el of Greater Miami. He also served as Cantor at B’nai Torah in Boca Raton for 8 years. Cantor Shifman has published numerous recordings of liturgical, traditional and contemporary music, and has performed throughout the world. With his amazing vocal range, he is acknowledged as one of the most renowned cantors of our time. |

Cantor Offy Shifman was born in Australia and is the son of Cantor Yehuda Shifman. He first sang publicly at age 5, as part of his father’s choir, and at 15, he performed as a cantor for High Holy Day services. Cantor Shifman headed the Bar Mitzvah Program at Temple Emanu-el of Greater Miami, and, in 1988, conducted its youth choir. He also led High Holy Day services at Beth Tikvah congregation in Boca Raton, with Rabbi Jack Rimmer. Cantor Shifman studied music theory, guitar, and cantorial music at Yeshiva University in New York, and graduated with a degree in psychology. He also holds a Master’s degree from Florida International University. |

Cantor Aaron Shifman is the son of Cantor Baruch Shifman. He received his Cantorial training under the tutelage of his father, and his uncle, Cantor Yehuda Shifman. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Cantor Shifman was a soloist in his father’s choir from age 10 through his early teens. At 18, Cantor Shifman led High Holiday services at Beth Kodesh Synagogue of South Miami, Florida. From 1986 to 1988, he was Assistant Cantor and choir soloist at Temple Emanu-el of Greater Miami. In 1989, he became Cantor of Temple Beth Moshe of North Miami where he managed the B’nai Mitzvah program and conducted the adult and children choirs. Cantor Shifman was appointed Cantor of Congregation Beth Shalom of Coconut Creek, Florida in 1996 before joining the B’nai Jeshurun Congregation in November 1998. |

Cantor Yitzchak Shifman was born in Rechovot, Israel to a family of Rabbis and Cantors. His musical family includes his brothers Ya-akov, Baruch and Yehuda, all of whom are Cantors. He studied in the Yeshivot of Slobodka and Mir, and he served for many years as a Cantor for the High Holidays. Cantor Yitzchak Shifman also worked for the municipality of Jerusalem for 40 years in its accounting department. |

Rabbi Yakov Shifman was born in Israel in 1937. He studied in the prestigious Yeshivot of Tzlabodka and Slonim. He also served in Israeli army for 12 years, where he was became a ritual office overseeing kashrut for the soldiers. After receiving his ordination as Rabbi, he and his family moved to South Africa, where he worked as a Rabbi, Sochet, Cantor and teacher. He composed many melodies and loved music. Eventually he returned Israel and was quickly hired as a master Shochet. He traveled with a team of shochtim under his leadership to slaughter meat for the Israeli Rabbinic governing body. Besides being an expert in Jewish law, Rabbi Yakov Shifman was often hired by non-kosher companies for his knowledge of quality of meat. In the mid 1990s, he joined his two brothers, Baruch and Yehuda, and two nephews, Aaron and Offy, for a Cantorial concert tour in the United States. The family recorded an album in which Rabbi Yakov Shifman`s composition Ka Ribon Olum was featured. Rabbi Yakov Shifman passed away in 2007. |
